Here is Ryan O'Loughlin's account of why he started Ryan's Reading Reviews:
I started Ryan's Reading Reviews in late December 2009 because one in all my hobbies is reading. I especially get pleasure from nonfiction books because typically there is some real price to be extracted from a smart nonfiction book which will be applied to enhance your everyday life. This can be not to mention that lessons can be learned from fiction books; but, I just notice that I resonate with and acquire more takeaways from nonfiction books.
Primarily a couple of times per week I can update my blog with a review of a book I have recently read. I will describe what I liked regarding the book and what I did not like. Largely, but, I will specialise in what I extremely took away from the book. I can focus on this for some reasons. One -and this could seem obvious- is to share what I got out of the book with my readers. This can enable readers to treat what they got out of the book. Maybe they got one thing completely completely different out of the book than what I got. Maybe the takeaways are similar. Perhaps their viewpoints are fully completely different than mine. Whatever the case, I encourage my readers to leave comments in the "comments" section of my blog to perhaps facilitate a discussion.
One thing my blog will not specialise in is the outline of the book. Whereas summaries can be nice, you'll be able to get them anywhere (i.e. the back of the book) and this is just not the prime focus of my blog. I want to share my viewpoints on a book, that could be a little a lot of valuable (I hope!) than a summary. It may additionally help readers figure out if a explicit book is one that they are fascinated by reading themselves.
There are some other advantages to reading my book reviews. One, if you haven't scan a particular book I've got reviewed, this is often just another source of info to see if you'll be curious about reading the book, like I simply said within the on top of paragraph. Also, I personally guarantee an honest assessment of the books. Some people can favor a book simply as a result of a high-profile author wrote it, when in point of fact the book is terrible! One amongst my strengths is that I have an open mind and provide things that are new to me a chance.
My reviews will be "graded" on a scale of A to F. This is just like the Yankee grading system. An outstanding book may be given an A+, whereas a not so hot book might fall to a D or an F. Conjointly, as mentioned before, you'll utterly disagree with me, and that's fine. Just as a result of I gave a book a unhealthy review will not mean that you did not (or will not) like it.
The goal of my blog is for me to take better notes while reading thus I can extract a lot of value from the books I read. The other goal is to share my takeaways from the book with my readers, so that they'll get something out of it as well. It will conjointly be used as another tool for readers to determine if they're fascinated by reading a specific book if they haven't already.
In closing, thanks for reading this article about Ryan O'Loughlin and Ryan's Reading Reviews. |
